Human Left Femur with Healed Comminuted Fracture
KOH-446 $129.00
An example of a femur with blunt force trauma poorly healed from the Hrdlicka Paleopathology Collection, this bone cast showing skeletal trauma is from prehistoric Peru (about 1,000 years old). The bone cast shows a healed comminuted (broken into many pieces) fracture involving the distal end (farthest from the body) of the femur with considerable displacement and irregular union. This resulted in numerous large apertures communicating with the medullary cavity. There is also osteoarthritis (lipping and eburnation) on the lateral and medial condyles. Licensed to Bone Clones by the San Diego Museum of Man. A portion of the sales goes to further their work.
