Human Rib with Embedded Bullet
FO-101 $45.00
Shot from above by a .32 caliber firearm, this right rib of a Caucasian male still has the bullet embedded in it. Evidence of new bone growth around the site of the injury clearly shows that the wound was non-fatal. This individual, an electrical lineman, died of carcinoma in San Francisco in 1941. Also visible on this specimen is an example of a post-mortem break to the proximal portion of the rib. Original specimen was obtained by the San Diego Museum of Natural History in 1981 and later donated to the San Diego Museum of Man. We are grateful to the San Diego Museum of Man for granting us permission to cast this unique specimen. An osteological evaluation report is available for print and download here: FO-101-Report.
