October 2015 Newsletter This month we are highlighting one of our newer categories: Endangered Species. We’ve created a new banner for this category. We hope that by bringing attention to the animals in this category, and by providing material useful to Osteological identification, study and analysis, we contribute towards appreciation and preservation of these species. In fact, during our early years Zoological products were the main focus of our company. We hoped, in some small way, to decrease demand for real specimens thereby contributing to reduced pressure on these animals. Our goal was and continues to be: create products that are so faithful to the original as to be virtually indistinguishable from real. Within this category you can find a multitude of mammal, reptile, amphibian, and bird species: endangered and critically endangered inhabitants of a rapidly diminishing natural world. Bone Clones® may be used to study subjects such as vocalization (hyoids), locomotion (pelves, pelvis-femur sets, and intermembral sets), comparative morphology, and dietary habits (skulls and dentition). In museums, zoos, and private collections Osteological displays can help bring further awareness to the range and diversity of species close to being lost in this era of mass extinction. We offer a large variety of specimens within this category - from entire skeletons to individual teeth and claws as well as life casts and eggs. One can also find, in this category, ‘Crossover’ products like our large-scale wall mounted Great Ape busts and our hand stained and finished Elephant molar. These are items we believe are inherently beautiful and that could be used for private collection and personal display. As such, they are also listed in our Décor category. Our impressive Gorilla, Chimpanzee, and Orangutan sculpted busts would add elegance and artistry to building facades or walls in conservation centers, zoological parks or nature preserves. Our Asian Elephant Tooth makes a substantial and beautiful paperweight, bookend or gift!! We hope you enjoy perusing our new categories, and exploring our website. As always, we love to hear from you. |
