Bone Clones® Economy Series
|
Featured Products - Bone Clones® Economy Series: Bone Clones® quality at an economical price. This month we are highlighting an entire category which has been designed to meet the needs of educators by offering economical physical examples of concepts taught in the biological sciences and visual art cirriculum.
|
|
Our goal with this series is to produce affordable replicas so that a new generation of nature enthusiasts, forensic osteologists, and artists can learn about animals and anatomy. While care is taken to ensure the major features of the skull are preserved, the small details of the neural passages may not be opened, making it possible to produce a more economical replica that is still an excellent teaching aide. See our page About the Bone Clones® Economy Series for more information.
Comparative economy sets are a versitile and economical teaching aide that can be used in teaching Common Core, NGSS and VPA concepts such as: Heredity, Biological Evolution, Struction and Function, Scientific Practices, Analyizing Form, Visual Reference, and Career Discussions.

New: Domestic Dog Comparison Economy Skull Set
Big, small, tall, short, narrow, wide, and everything in between: dogs have it all. This set of three dog skulls offers an opportunity to explore morphological diversity within a species, as well as the interdependent role they've played in human history. Set includes 3 skulls: a Saluki (long-narrow, dolichocephalic), Rottweiler (medium, mesaticephalic), and English Bulldog (short-broad, brachycephalic) skull.
Concepts which can be explored include: How to determine which skull fits in which category. What benefit does each skull shape possess? What detriments? Natural selection vs. breeding: what is beneficial to a species survival? What features contribute to an animal's success at particular jobs: hunting, carting, guarding, lap-warming? How to predict bite force (hint: size matters).

New: Bullmastiff Dog Skull
(Coming soon: Bullmastiff Dog Skeleton)
|
One of the largest domestic dog breeds, the Bullmastiff is a gentle giant with a typical weight between 120 to 250 lbs! These even-tempered, affectionate dogs are loyal family pets that are protective and need lots of attention. The skull of the Bullmastiff reflects its canid origins and breed characteristics, being 60% Mastiff and 40% Bulldog; a short muzzle with an under bite like a Bulldog and a heavy, square skull with wide set eyes like a Mastiff. This skull would be a great addition to any veterinary program or comparative anatomy program focused on canid evolution.
