The glaucous gull is a large, predatory bird found in frozen North America and the Atlantic coasts of Europe. With a wing-span up to 6', this very pale gull has a white head and underparts, a gray back, gray wings with white tips, and a white tail. The long, thick yellow bill of this hefty bird has a red spot near its tip. With a cry like the herring gull, it preys on fish, small birds, eggs and small mammals, and has been known to snatch food from the mouth of other birds. It will also eat human garbage and carrion. The male and female will build a nest together, usually along cliff tops or rocky ground, and will both incubate the eggs and feed the young. The young reach adult plumage in four years. 1-part skull (jaw glued to cranium).
