Human Adolescent Skull
BC-301 $287.00
This skull is associated with the Adolescent Skeleton, SC-301. Age analysis revealed that none of the cranial sutures are closed and the 3rd molars have not fully erupted, suggesting an individual in the mid to late adolescent range, 16-19 years of age. The morphological indicators used to estimate ancestry are primarily expressed in cranial features and are most reliably assessed in adult individuals. However, in this older subadult, limited cranial traits may still provide suggestive evidence of population affinity – rounded eye orbits, low nasal root, small anterior nasal spine, moderate prognathism and no postbregmatic depression. These traits are consistent with Asian population affinity. Estimating sex in subadults is difficult, as sexual dimorphism is not fully expressed until puberty. Therefore, sex estimation in subadult remains is inherently limited and should be interpreted cautiously. However, because this individual appears to be in the late adolescent range, some sexually dimorphic traits may be suggestive. The overall skeletal morphology in this case is suggestive of male sex.
An osteological evaluation report is available for print and download here: BC-301-Report. Should you have questions or comments regarding the report, please contact us at reports@boneclones.com. 2-part skull (separate cranium & jaw).
Jaw available individually as well, please inquire.
