Cat Postcranial Elements

The first recognizable cat (true felid) appeared in the fossil record during the early Oligocene and orientated in Asia. Cats are hypercarnivores, meaning they are strictly meat-eating. This is reflected in their skeletons; shortness of the skull, short snout, wide zygomata, large carnassial teeth, and evidence of retractile claws. Below one will replicas of postcranial elements of cats.
