Cat Skulls

The first recognizable cat (true felid) appeared in the fossil record during the early Oligocene and originated in Asia. Cats are hypercarnivores, meaning they are strictly meat-eating. This is reflected in their skeletons; shortness of the skull, short snout, wide zygomata, large carnassial teeth, and evidence of retractile claws. Below one will find replicas of large cats, such as the Siberian tiger and small cats, like the bobcat.
