Pelvis and Femur
The pelvic girdle is adapted for stability. The ischium, one of the three bones that fuse to create the innominate, is especially large in Old World monkeys. The hip, like the shoulder is a ball-and-socket joint. Studying the shape and length of a pelvis and femur of a non-human primate, and the joint between these two, contributes to our understanding of biological evolution from non-human to human.
