Grizzly Bear Skull with Gunshot Wounds
BC-365 $575.00
Grizzly bears are among the largest and most formidable carnivores in the wild. This cast of a grizzly bear skull, marked by bullet damage, tells a dramatic and compelling story. In a remote region of the Alaskan backcountry, two wildlife officials encountered this bear in a life-threatening situation. Although the officials survived the confrontation, the bear was fatally shot. The skull cast illustrates the trajectory of two .50 caliber rounds. Entry wounds are visible through the posterior portion of the zygomatic arch and the left side of the snout. The bullets ricocheted within the skull, causing extensive damage to the jaw and braincase before exiting through the lower portion of the cranium. The full account of this extraordinary incident is documented in a video available on YouTube (Content Warning: Video shows the immediate aftermath of the incident, including injuries to the wildlife official and the fatally shot bear.)
2-part skull (separate cranium & jaw).
A custom metal display stand is available below.
Jaw available individually as well, please inquire.
