Human Right Femur Fracture with Malunion
KO-261 $195.00
This femur displays an oblique, comminuted fracture (multiple fragments) and bone displacement, resulting in the misalignment of the femoral shaft and overall shortening of the femur.
Comminuted fractures are usually caused by high-impact trauma, such as car accidents or falls from significant heights. These are particularly serious injuries with risks including severe blood loss, damage to surrounding muscles and nerves, and bone fragments that can cause damage to surrounding tissues and arteries. In this case, there is evidence of bone remodeling as the two pieces are connected through a bony bridge. A break this severe would have taken years to heal, so this person was cared for in some way.
