Sloth Bear Skull
BC-370 $295.00
Sloth bears are found across South Asia, including India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. They are recognized by their shaggy black coats, pale snouts, long claws, and flexible lips. Adults can grow up to 6ft long and weigh up to 300lbs. Sloth bears have the longest claws of any bear relative to body size, reaching up to 3in long. These claws are ideal for tearing apart termite mounds and rotting logs. A gap between their front teeth and powerful sucking lips helps them feed on termites and ants, which make up much of their diet alongside fruit and honey.
They inhabit lowland tropical forests, grasslands, and scrublands across South Asia. Although known for aggressive encounters with humans, attacks usually happen when the bears are startled or protecting cubs, often due to increasing human activity in their habitat.
Sloth bears are currently listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List because of habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict.
2-part skull (separate cranium & jaw).
A custom metal display stand is available below.
Jaw available individually as well, please inquire.
