Wildlife Skull Identification Forensic Set
BC-KIM-10 $2,250.00
Overview
In the continued effort to create innovative and stimulating STEM curriculum, Bone Clones has collaborated with KIMSeattle (Kids In Medicine & Science) to create this Career-connected Classroom™ Wildlife Skull Identification Set—a real-world wildlife forensics lab of mammals and birds.
Wildlife Forensics is a rapidly expanding field of science. It combines a simple appreciation of the natural world with the protection of all living things from smuggling, poaching, environmental pollution, climate change, and other losses of biodiversity caused by irresponsible activities of our own species.
Similar to solving a "human" forensic case, a wildlife case requires an interdisciplinary approach of specialists who collaborate with one another and employ similar investigative methods. Input is provided by specialists in ecology, veterinary medicine, zoology, osteology, toxicology, pathology, genetics, radiology, conservationists, law enforcement, the wildlife forensic investigators themselves, and others. The basis of all forensic work is careful examination and documentation of evidence so it can be reliably communicated to a court of law. This lab will guide students through this process.
